Event Recap: UN Global Compact Network UK — Sustainability Reporting Working Group at TOLI House

It was a pleasure to host the UN Global Compact Network UK Sustainability Reporting Working Group at TOLI House, where we gathered for a frank, insightful, and forward-looking conversation on the evolving landscape of sustainability reporting.

The session brought together practitioners, reporting leads, and sustainability strategists to explore how the field is shifting — from navigating diverging jurisdictional requirements to engaging supply chains, embedding transition plans into business value, and ensuring communications and storytelling remain firmly grounded in data.

Setting the Stage for Honest, High-Value Dialogue

The event opened with expert facilitation from Billie Armstrong, whose guidance created space for open discussion and practical exchange. Special thanks also go to Brenda Staines for her support throughout the day and Akvile Jovaisaite for her work behind the scenes to make the gathering seamless.

Presentations That Challenged and Inspired

We were grateful to hear thought-provoking contributions from:

  • Julia Cripps

  • Manon Welter

  • Lara Martini

Their perspectives helped reframe key questions in sustainability reporting — particularly how to shift conversations from “risk as usual” to identifying new opportunities and conducting materiality assessments that genuinely withstand stakeholder scrutiny.

The discussions highlighted the increasing need for robust, comparable, decision-useful data, and the importance of integrating reporting with strategy, governance, and value creation.

Aligning with the SDGs Through Practical Tools

At G17Eco, our platform was built to help organisations operationalise and embed the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).It was incredibly rewarding to connect with professionals equally committed to driving alignment, transparency, and meaningful progress across their organisations and value chains.

A Shared Commitment to Better Reporting

The session reinforced a shared belief: sustainability reporting is at a turning point. As standards evolve and expectations rise, so too must our ability to translate risks into opportunities, insights into action, and data into credible narratives that build trust.

Bringing this community together — in an environment designed for conscious connection and thoughtful dialogue — was a privilege.
